Transferring your domain from one registrar to another (e.g., from GoDaddy to Cloudflare or Namecheap) is a simple process if you follow standard ICANN transfer rules.

Step 1: Check 60-Day Transfer Lock

ICANN rules prohibit domain transfers within 60 days of initial registration or a previous transfer. Ensure your domain is at least 60 days old before initiating.

Step 2: Unlock Your Domain Name

Log into your current registrar dashboard and disable the domain lock (set status from `ClientTransferProhibited` to `OK`).

Step 3: Obtain the EPP / Auth Code

Request the Authorization (EPP) Code from your current registrar. This unique secret key proves ownership and permits the receiving registrar to initiate the move.

Step 4: Update Admin Contact Information

Verify that your registrant/admin email address is accurate. Confirmation emails containing transfer approval links will be delivered to this address.

Step 5: Initiate Transfer at New Registrar

Paste the EPP code into the new registrar's transfer interface, submit payment for the mandatory 1-year extension, and approve the email confirmation link.
